Silicon Valley Perl

Welcome to Silicon Valley Perl, or "SVPerl", a group for people interested in the Perl programming language in the Silicon Valley area. It is organizing as a Special Interest Group (SIG) of the South Bay Community Network, Inc., a California non-profit corporation.

The web site was started in March 2010. Information is being posted as it becomes available.

Perl itself has been around since the late 1980's. There are tens of thousands of Perl modules available from the Comprehensive Perl Archive Network (CPAN).

SVPerl held a poll which selected First Thursdays of the month as our meeting time. Meetings are at 7:00PM. (Initial meetings were held at 7:30PM. Attendees agreed that 7:00PM is preferable.) See the MeetingInfo page for details.

How to Use the Wiki

A "wiki" is a user-editable web site. It doesn't mean everyone is expected to edit it - but it does mean we can more easily find helpers to keep things up-to-date. For an introduction about the concepts and traditions of wiki sites, see the article about wikis on Wikipedia.

This web site is publicly-readable. To modify this wiki site, you need an SBAY Web Account.

This web site is running the TWiki software. (Yes, it's written in Perl!) There is a Frequently Asked Questions and Tutorial online if you need them.
